The decision to shave your entire head can be hard for most people.

Twenty-four-year-old, Feride Karabora, has shown the true lengths of her bravery by shocking her community and taking the ultimate plunge to sign up to the World’s Greatest Shave.

As a young woman living in a Turkish community, the idea of willingly shaving her hair for the World’s Greatest Shave has been difficult for some people to get behind. This idea is especially hard to grasp for a traditional Turkish family, and trying to explain the reason behind her decision has been anything but easy. However, this has not deterred Feride in the slightest. She has already managed to raise over $3,000 from a great range of supportive friends and family, putting her in the top 10 fundraisers for Victoria.

This will be the first year Feride is participating and she is not the least bit conflicted or apprehensive about her decision to shave.

Feride has had people in her life pass away from cancer, one of which was from Leukaemia. Her biggest motivation in taking part this year is knowing that unlike cancer patients going through treatment, she has the choice to lose her hair, and that is a privilege in itself.

The Foundation’s most important fundraiser provides vital funds to lessen the impact of blood cancer through research and free support. All services are provided free of charge and without ongoing government funding.

The World’s Greatest Shave is a fun-filled event that also helps normalise baldness, one of the most visible and most distressing side effects of cancer treatment. Do something amazing to help beat blood cancer, sign up today and Be Brave and Shave!
