Federation Story is a free interactive exhibition at Federation Square that traces the events, people and ideas that led to Australia’s Federation. It also celebrates the richly diverse stories and events that have continued to shape our country, our culture and our place in the world.

You can become part of this permanent, free exhibition by sharing your personal or family story online.

You don’t need to be a history buff, or a professional writer. You don’t even need to know who Henry Parkes was!

This is your chance to be part of history and share your personal or family story with the rest of Australia at Federation Square.

Access to the Site

By using the Site and any of the content or materials contained on it, , you signify your agreement to (1) these Terms of Use; (2) Fed Square Pty Ltd’s privacy policy, (3) other rules and requirements specified in this Site. You also agree that, in your use of the Site you will comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations.

Intellectual property and copyright

I understand that I hold the intellectual property rights but grant Fed Square Pty Ltd licence to use them at no cost.

I grant permission to Fed Square Pty Ltd to use, reproduce, distribute, communicate to the public, publish, publicly perform, publicly display, modify, adapt, translate, upload, download in any form or manner, and incorporate this material into other materials or works in any format or medium for any non-commercial purpose and the right to sublicence those rights. This consent is for an indefinite period of time.

You agree to indemnify and keep indemnified Fed Square Pty Ltd and any such licensee of Fed Square Pty Ltd against any liability, costs (including legal costs), claims, actions and damages arising from a breach by you of this licence or from use of the Licensed Content otherwise than in accordance with the terms of this Licence. Uploading of User-Created Content

If you wish to submit your Content to this Site you must:

a) complete the appropriate Upload Form;

b) obtain and retain all necessary fully completed authorisations and consents including the authorisation to reproduce your own image or that of others on the www in the public domain.

 

Moderation of User-Created Content

Fed Square Pty Ltd reserves the right to assess the quality of and to moderate, and at its sole discretion, to accept, modify or reject User-Created Content. There may be some delay in posting your User-Created Content while it is assessed and moderated and Fed Square Pty Ltd reserves the right not to publish it at all.

Your Content may be edited, removed or not published if Fed Square Pty Ltd considers them to be:

(a) defamatory or otherwise unlawful, or violating any laws regarding harassment, discrimination, racial vilification, privacy or contempt;

(b) abusive, offensive or obscene;

(d) compromising your privacy, the privacy of other Users or of HTAV staff, or containing inappropriate personal information;

(e) an infringement of intellectual property rights or copyright.

(f) intentionally false or misleading;

(g) seeking to endorse or promote commercial products, services or activities; or

You shall be solely responsible for your own Content and the consequences of posting or publishing it.

 

Display Names

If you wish to add User-Created Content to this Site, Fed Square Pty Ltd recommends that you use a pseudonym (not your real name), provided always that you should not intentionally use the name of another person.

Fed Square Pty Ltd may refuse to publish display names it considers inappropriate. Display names that contain obscenity, abuse, defamatory content, copyright infringement or brand names or registered trade marks may not be accepted.
