We are a small but growing community based in Melbourne, which prides itself in being inclusive, collaborative and accessible to anyone regardless of age, skill level or background.
Started in late 2012, the business formed as a place where people could learn music without the pressures and intensiveness of most other music education institutions. Hard work will come, but love and passion for your art needs to be maintained and fostered constantly.
The organisation’s slogan, Free Your Sound, has a very important meaning behind it.
F stands for find. And that’s what we do – we help you find a sound that is unique and speaks to you personally.
R stands for release. We help you to release your sound, whether that be through learning, performing, composing or sharing your music with others.
E stands for express. This is something that many people have trouble with due to insecurities and pressure, but we don’t impose either on our students. We instead help you to work through them.
E stands for extend. This is where we encourage you to push yourself to become the best that you can be.
We want to help student achieve the goals they set for themselves, not what is expected by a teacher. This is one aspect of our ethos, the second is music accessibility.
We are excited to be working with over eight schools, NGO’s and other organisations in various locations around Nepal and India, to bring music education to disadvantaged communities. We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity which will be funded by our local business activities.
The Music Generation is about making music fun and open to anyone and everyone. Our most recent event at Federation Square was a huge hit and epitomised what this organisation is about. We had over 40 performers from many different community groups, some professional musicians and some who just sing in a choir once a week for fun. Despite all of these differences, we came together as one to create a grand Flash Mob Show set to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
