…and has been operating for 18 months and in development for a few years now. In that time they have already managed to become the top mobile website agency in Australia.
Wes Garth is director and founder of Red Pants. His background is mainly in marketing, having spent 16 years at Nike Sports managing some of the biggest athletes and teams. So how does a businessman with a non-technical background end up heading one of Australia’s biggest tech companies?
Wes says just looking around a waiting room at a doctor’s surgery it was plain to see how most people are accessing the internet these days – via their smart phones. So the idea to start up a mobile website company was a naturally logical one for the enterprising Mr. Garth.
Wes’ son’s favourite pants were a bright red pair, which he pretty much wore around constantly for a year. So when it came to naming the business, Wes thought he’d honour his son’s favourite pants – and being an “out-of-the-box” kinda guy himself – Wes thought this could just be crazy enough to work.
“Out of all the mobile companies out there, which is the name will you remember?” He makes a good point!
Red Pants works with some of Australia’s leading brands such as Boost Juice, Pioneer, etc, right through to sole traders. Wes says whether they’re a big corporation or a sole trader “We treat everybody the same and give them the same level of service.”
Wes’ proudest achievement with Red Pants was being officially recognised as only one of 20 globally approved Google ‘How To GOMO’ (go mobile) developers, which has helped get this Victorian brand get out there on a global scale.
