I moved back to Croydon North in July 2009 but missed the area. There is something very special about Marysville and surrounds. Once you’ve experienced it you can’t stay away.
I bought my land at Marysville in May of 2012 then opened the business in June this year. My dream was to have luxury accommodation with the addition of spa treatments, in a private retreat setting so visitors could rest and restore. My aim was to create a total relaxation package. In regards to getting the business up and running, I researched modular homes and chose the one I wanted for the property. I received help in building the deck and landscaping the property, which was greatly appreciated. It is with respect to the Taungurung people and the aboriginal culture of the local area that this special place be named Moondani (moon da ni) Marysville, meaning Embrace Marysville.
It is how you make the best from the changes. I think as community, there is a wonderful focus on moving forward by encouraging people to nurture and support Marysville as well as encouraging people back to the town and making newcomers welcome. I embrace the new Marysville and am excited for the future of the town. My goal is to encourage people to embrace Marysville for what it is now and enhance its future.
Marysville brings you back to the basics of life – the quiet pace is intoxicating. When you see the stunning view at Moondani, it gives you pause to reflect on your place in the world. You can truly experience stillness and reconnect to the community and the land. I respect the aboriginal philosophy that we are all connected – the people, the land and the elements. As a community, we are never isolated – we are part of each other’s lives, even more so due to the fires. My business allows people to fully experience the quietness and beauty they are seeking, and have the time to reconnect to themselves, to each other and to nature in a beautiful package crafted for them.
For the town to move forward, you have to keep the passion and embrace the new changes. Marysville is now new, modern, fresh and light – a peaceful place to be. There is a renewed energy in the area, which is a good sign of things to come.
Marysville – Wish You Were Here
