Michael’s Close Shave at Fed Square

Michael Lewis at World's Greatest Shave

Michael Lewis, Telstra Solutions Specialist, participated in the World’s Greatest Shave for the 12th time!

Michael first got involved with the shave when a colleague challenged him to shave his head. Michael accepted the challenge on the condition that $1000 was raised by lunchtime, feeling confident that there was no chance… Lo and behold, a whopping $3000 was raised with the incentive to see Michael shave his head and then he had no choice but to lose his locks. Mr Lewis was so inspired by the generosity that was sparked from a bit of fun in the workplace that he decided to keep the tradition going annually.

Over the past 13 years, Michael has raised over $140,000 for the Leukemia Foundation. Michael has been very creative to keep his fundraising efforts interesting such as leg and arm pit waxing, auctioning off shaving his head on Ebay and shaving both his beard and hair. Michael is very passionate about the cause because he is helping to raise funds that go towards finding a cure, increasing community awareness about Leukemia and encouraging others to join in.

Michael loves that the World’s Greatest Shave is so much fun and yet gives you the opportunity to raise a serious amount of money for a very important cause. Michael shaved his head again at the World’s Greatest Shave public event at Federation Square that was held on March 14.

Money raised from the World’s Greatest Shave goes towards funding support services for people living with blood cancer and cutting-edge blood cancer research into better treatment and cures.
