Most of us came here as students in the year of 2000 or later. Yes of course we have finished our degree. Initially Tutul, Dipan and Kazi started playing guitar and bass just for fun, in 2008 Kazi left Melbourne for Sydney and that’s when Dipan took up the bass and later Rana Hossen, Iqbal Jahed and our big brothers Asish and Tanvir joined the band. The funny story about our band name is that we decided we will name our band according to the Student Visa status when we arrived here. We came here under the Student Visa status SUBCLASS 573.
Basically the members used to (and still do) practice in the garage over the weekend.
One of the talented artists of Subclass 573, Reza Ali has performed in Melbourne with the great LRB (one of the National and very famous band in Bangladesh). Subclass573 has also performed with other Bangladeshi national artists Ornob and Kona both in Melbourne and Adelaide.
Sad but true, we still have restriction here in our community about what kind of music we should or should not play. One of the Bangladeshian community “Srotar Ashor” organised a show in The Edge last year. That was a successful event, but the only thing is the type of music/cultural show they organise, most of our young generation hardly join the event.
Then our Band Subclass 573 took the step to organise a musical event for our young generation. We invited a band from Sydney as well.
We hope we can organise an event like that in future for our generation.
