The unique cultural hub of Footscray is the latest inner-city suburb to undergo gentrification.

In the past, Footscray has been a melting pot for newly arrived migrants and generations of bleeding heart ‘”West-siders.”

The suburb is like no other: Little Saigon (a Vietnamese market) borders on the African Quarter and people of all races faithfully wear the “doggies” (Western Bulldogs) scarf.

“Westside for life,” the walls read as development – both welcomed and resisted- continues to be built.
