It has inspired me to feature my recent works and studies across 5 continents – from the power of the Russian masters where I studied in St Petersburg, the subtlety of the French composers composed in my hometown in Paris, the drama and guile of my birthplace in South America, and the excitement and spirituality of new world compositions from Asia and Australia. I look forward to debuting “Uluru”, which I will see again just before the concert, and to play once more “Response to Blainey’s ‘The Tyranny of Distance’ “. As one who, being born in Brazil, has also been distanced by continents from the traditional centre of classical music, I am humbled in seeking to present to an Australian audience Australian icon-themed compositions also from an outsider’s perspective.
