I was born in Darwin in November 1941. My father was white Anglo Saxon and my mother Australian born Chinese/Malay. He ran away from home on a pearling lugger at the age of 12 and arrived in Broome where he woked as a pearl diver and then a tenderer. He eventually went to Darwin.
By my age now, both my grandparents' and my parents' generation had already fled the country they grew up in, due to unfortunate circumstances.
This is my story. Mine and my husband's. It is now part of our children's story too, although they don't know it yet.
