An Inspiring Musical Journey

Immanuel Lutheran College - Instrumental Music
Deakin Edge performane

The Tour Starts…

After months of preparation and rehearsals, 53 students and staff departed from Immanuel Lutheran College on the Sunshine Coast for a musical tour of Melbourne. The College chose Melbourne as a destination due to its vibrancy, cultural diversity and prominence of the arts.

In Awe…

You can imagine the students’ excitement as they arrived at Deakin Edge poised to perform for the wider Melbourne community. Performing at this wonderful venue gave them the opportunity to showcase their musical talents in a professional and supportive environment that is renowned in Melbourne and across Australia. For our students, the memory of performing at Deakin Edge is one that will stay with them for life.

Australian Musicians…

Immanuel’s Instrumental Music program fosters the development of young musicians. It was important for us to ensure that students had direct contact with professional Australian musicians. Imagine the thrill and excitement of attending a rehearsal of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. If that wasn’t enough, senior students then met with and received advice from a number of these world-class musicians. It was very refreshing for students and staff to see the wealth of ‘local’ musical talent that Melbourne has to offer and the rich and inspiring impact that these instrumentalists are having on our young and aspiring musicians.

Afterwards…

We returned to the Sunshine Coast with ensembles that were inspired, enthusiastic and producing even better sounds. This of course is the result of a lot of hard work prior to the tour. However, partly also a product of time spent in a culturally-rich environment (Melbourne) that is set up to support young musicians and artists.
