Alexandra’s Story

My family goes back a long way in Australia. We’ve been here since 1919.

My great grandmother, on my father’s side, was Elizabeth Wightlaw. She left Glasgow in Scotland for Australia with her family at the age of two. She left Scotland for a place where her family knew she would be safe, to grow up with the best possibilities and where she could reach for her dreams.

She grew up, and met Robert Earnest Clark, whom she married and with had four daughters. One of which was my nanna, Wendy Joy Clark.

She met Henry Edmund Woodrow, married him, and had two sons with him, one of which is my uncle, the other, my father.

My father married my mum and had two children, me and my sister Izabella.

I am growing up in an amazing country, where we all live in harmony.

Living here is a great thing, because in Australia, I have more opportunities then I would in some other places in the world.

I feel so lucky to be in Australia, with friends and family and a great school.
