A Sustanible Future
A few years ago Ross and his wife sold their business and moved to Africa to volunteer for a few years.
In Africa Ross and his wife were putting in rural water bores. While they were over there Ross made an interesting observation about the sanity of the country and the irresponsible introduction of disposable plastic waste products from the West. People had been used to using a lot of natural products in their lifestyle and dropping them on the ground as they would decompose. However, treating plastic bottles the same caused a major waste problem.
People in the community had a lack of education and they didn’t know how bad plastic was to the environment.
It was at that point in Africa that Ross thought it would be a good idea to start his own business that focused on making bio-degradable products, and that is how FieldTech Solutions started. FieldTech Solutions started in2011 by Ross and his partner John Mancarella and they focus on making and selling bio-degradable products such as gloves, bailers, sticky tape, and tubing for groundwater sampling. The main focus of the company is on biodegradable products that can be used in contaminated land work. Longer life products are also made from recycled plastic to save our resources.
Ross and John are passionate about creating a sustainable environment for future generations.
Ross is also a co-leader of Beachpatrol Australia, a group that goes out once a month for an hour to pick up rubbish from our beaches. Beachpatrol now has 18 groups over 18 postcodes that participate in the cleanup of Australian Beaches. Ross now runs the website and tries to get people interested in living sustainably. “Getting people to be interested in sustainability is not always an easy task. People are becoming more aware of the dangers now, and it is a small step in the right direction.” Beachpatrol is helping clean the beaches of Victoria whilst involving community. “It is only an hour commitment every month and after we finish we go to a café to have a chat for the next hour and a half.” Environmental Sustainability is important for future generations and Ross is committed to helping keep Australia clean.
