I was born in Darwin in November 1941. My father was white Anglo Saxon and my mother Australian born Chinese/Malay. He ran away from home on a pearling lugger at the age of 12 and arrived in Broome where he woked as a pearl diver and then a tenderer. He eventually went to Darwin.
