Martin Odegaard’s contract at Arsenal does not include a buyback clause for his former club Real Madrid, it has been confirmed.

The Norwegian signed for the Gunners from Los Blancos in the summer of 2021 after a loan spell in the second of the 2020/21 campaign.

He has since proved to be a crucial asset for Arsenal, who remain top of the Premier League table thanks to his efforts in the 4-2 against Brighton.

However, should Madrid consider bringing him back to the Santiago Bernabeu, it could be more difficult for them to do so.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the European giants do not have a buyback clause for Odegaard.

The 24-year-old is said to be ‘in love’ with the current project at Arsenal, having amassed 12 goals contributions so far this season.

He was on hand to score and assist against Brighton on New Year’s Eve as Mikel Arteta’s side went seven points clear at the top of the table.

Odegaard netted Arsenal’s second of the game following Bukayo Saka’s opener inside two minutes.

Further goals from Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli secured their win on the road.

They are now in a commanding lead over reigning champions Manchester City, who dropped points at home to Everton.

Odegaard has now made 81 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions since he first joined.

He is emerging as one of the Premier League’s top midfielders, with Arsenal thriving when he is in form.
