Arsenal transfer news: The Gunners appear to be lining up their next January signing once the deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk is finalised.
Arsenal look set to know what their next move in the January window will be once the transfer of Mykhaylo Mudryk is completed with a deal being secured with Shakhtar Donetsk now closer than ever, as football.london understands. The Gunners have pursued the 22-year-old for several months and after seeing two bids rejected appear to be closing in on making their first January transfer window signing.
Chelsea’s interest in Mudryk did not deteriorate Arsenal’s push to sign Mudryk with the winger continuing to drop huge hints about his desire to sign for the Gunners. His latest plea arrived late into the evening on Thursday when news broke of a fresh offer from Arsenal where he posted to Instagram a praying emoji.
It has been suggested that the fee for the Ukrainian could be in the region of £75-80million which would take him above Nicolas Pepe as Arsenal’s record signing.
While there have been links to other players in the winter window, Mudryk has been Edu and Mikel Arteta’s priority and now that a breakthrough has been made, the club may turn their attention to other targets. Another midfielder is needed to provide sufficient depth, while a left-footed centre back to provide cover for Gabriel Magalhaes has been discussed.
However, it appears Arsenal may have already decided on their next signing and his position is neither of those named above. Real Vallodalid right-back Ivan Fresneda is catching a lot of attention from several clubs as well as Arsenal including Newcastle, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.
A post from PucelaNews_1928 on Twitter, a dedicated Vallodalid news page, has suggested that the 18-year-old wishes to make Arsenal his next club. They also claim that the Gunners are interested but have asked for patience while they secure the final details of the transfer for Mudryk.
Fabrizio Romano also recently reported the latest on Fresneda’s future, revealing the teenager is still yet to decide his future. The young Spaniard has made eight La Liga appearances this season and will see his contract at Vallodolid expire in June 2025.
