Latest Aston Villa transfer news from BirminghamLive as the club are linked with Las Palmas midfielder Alberto Moleiro.
Aston Villa are reportedly monitoring a move for Las Palmas youngster Alberto Moleiro but face competition from several high-profile teams.
After making his breakthrough last season, Moleiro, 19, has remained a pivotal part of the club’s promotion push to La Liga. The versatile midfielder operates as a number 10, as well as on both flanks, and has clocked up five assists in 20 appearances this term.
His performances in the second tier have seen him receive a call-up for Spain u21s and Villa are said to be “keeping tabs” on a move for the teenager. However, Unai Emery ’s side are expected to be rivalled for his signature.
The Daily Mail has reported that Moleiro is being “closely monitored” by Villa but are far from the only club to have seemingly expressed their interest. Spanish giants Real Madrid, as well as Liverpool and league leaders Arsenal are all claimed to be “keeping tabs” highly-rated teenager.
Moleiro’s current deal runs until 2026 but the Daily Mail claims that the attacking midfielder is expected to leave the club before that date. Moleiro has created the third-most chances in open play across the Segunda, with the report likening him to Barcelona prodigy Pedri, and Emery has shared his stance on the January market as he enters his first transfer window as Villa boss.
“We are speaking and we are working on the possibility to add some players,” he said , earlier this week. “We are speaking as well with some players who can leave. Really, I want to improve everything we can in the squad but I’m so happy with the players because I think we have very good players.
“But, of course, we can improve and we can add in some positions because I think we are not plentiful in the positions in the squad that I want. The next four weeks, we are going to try to add some players but, really, only if they improve our team.”
