Arsenal hosts third-place Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, so we simulated the game to see who could come out on top.

Arsenal's predicted XI vs Man United

Arsenal will be looking to open up some space between themselves and Man United, when they face Erik ten Hag’s side in the Premier League on Sunday.

A Hugo Lloris own goal followed by a Martin Odegaard strike secured a 2-0 win over Tottenham in Arsenal‘s last game, sending the Gunners eight points clear at the top of the league. Their lead at the top was extended after United beat Man City 2-1 last weekend, and the Gunners can fend off any pressure from United with victory on Sunday.

The last meeting between the two sides was the only loss of Arsenal’s Premier League campaign so far, with United winning 3-1 at Old Trafford. And, the Gunners have been handed a boost ahead of the clash, with Casemiro suspended for United.

So, could Arsenal get revenge over Manchester United on Sunday? We simulated the game to find out.

We simulated Arsenal vs Man United to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the Gunners could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Odegaard, Xhaka; Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli.

We predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; McTominay, Fred, Eriksen; Fernandes, Martial, Rashford.

Neither side had control of the first half at the Emirates, with the opening 45 minutes being a robust tactical affair. Eddie Nketiah had Arsenal’s best chance of the half after 26 minutes when he blasted his effort into the side netting from a close angle, but Arteta’s side entered the break a goal behind after United took the lead in the 42nd minute.

Some intricate play between Fred and Bruno Fernandes down the right saw the visitors ease past Oleksandr Zinchenko, and a clever flick by Fred saw the ball go through the legs of Granit Xhaka, playing Fernandes into the box. The Portuguese midfielder drilled a pass into the feet of Anthony Martial, and the striker blasted a well-placed effort into the top corner to make it 1-0.

The second half continued where the first left off, with both sides seeing lots of the ball, but few chances being created. United’s defence were proving hard to break down, but a moment of magic saw the Gunners draw the game level.

Martin Odegaard made it 1-1

Odegaard slipped through United’s midfield with some silky footwork with Nketiah in support, and a smart one-two with the striker to work the ball around Lisandro Martinez as Odegaard broke through on goal. As the ball bounced into his path, the midfielder fired a powerful strike across goal, flying past David de Gea and into the top corner.

Arsenal had two glorious chances to win the game late on when Bukayo Saka broke through on goal, but the winger failed to find the target on both occasions, and the Gunners claimed a point against United.
